About Us
A child is the most desired gift in the life of any married couple. Thousands of children are born each year who are either orphaned at birth or must be given up by their mothers because their fathers refuse to acknowledge their existence. Janani Ashish Charitable Trust was founded in 1989 with two main goals: to take in such destitute orphans and then rehabilitate them so that they could be adopted by loving families.

Late Dr. (Mrs.) Kirtida Pradhan founded the trust with the help of 21 other Dombivli ladies, and it was registered with the Charity Commissioner. The trust then went on to purchase a 1500-square-meter plot in Dombivli's M.I.D.C. area. In March 1990, Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Maharashtra's former Finance Minister, performed the bhoomi poojan of this land. Ex-Chief Justice of India, Hon. Shri PN. Bhagwati, inaugurated the Trust building on April 2, 1993, after the first phase of construction was completed.

The Trust welcomed their first child in July 1993, and they haven't looked back since.
We have cared for many newborn infants and given them up for adoption into happy families.
For all work being done by trust, financial resources are built up solely through donations from various generous individuals and corporations, not only from Dombivli but also from all over India and overseas.

The initial capital was built up by the contribution of Rs. 5000/- each from 22 founder members. Even now, we do not have any fixed aid from any government institution, we have obtained tax exemption for all donations under Article 80-G, income tax act of India. We are indeed grateful to all the people who had donated monetarily or in the form of clothes, toys, food and various other articles of daily use.

The Janani Ashish Charitable Trust is a licensed adoption organization by the Government of Maharashtra. Inter-Country Adoption is a program approved by the Central Adoption Resource Authority, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, and the Government of India to place children who cannot find suitable placements in India.
Our adoption procedure is as per the preamble of the Hague Convention, which states,
"Recognizing that the child, for the full and harmonious development of his or her personality, should grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love, and understanding."

Adoption in India is governed by the rules under the Adoption Guidelines 2017. To find out about the adoption process or registration, please visit the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) - cara.nic.in
